New rules to stop loss of homes
While the City of Sydney needs to be building new public and affordable housing, attention must also be paid to other ways the city’s housing supply is being lost.
After reports of a flood of development applications in the east of the city, seeking to demolish or gut existing, relatively affordable homes to create large luxury apartments or mansions, the Greens moved to create new rules against ‘net dwelling loss’.
The rules were endorsed by Council in 2023, and will be public exhibited before final adoption in 2024.
The development lobby, however, is trying to block these new rules. If you want to help and add your voice to the campaign for these changes please sign up to our news letter
