Free Pools In The Summertime
Right now it costs nearly $10 to take a dip after a hot day in one of our pools. That's too much. The current price tag means that if you're not lucky enough to live near a beach or have air con at home that you don't have an affordable, accessible way to escape the heat.
In a cost-of-living crisis, as our summers get hotter and longer, this is a no brainer: people should be able to cool off at their local pool for free in the summertime.
Melbourne and Brisbane Councils have recently introduced massively discounted entry to huge success, and a growing number of regional and suburban Councils are now following suit with free access. Now it's time for the City of Sydney to join them.
We're one of the wealthiest Councils in Australia with a healthy operating surplus. Making pools free in the summertime would cost us only a couple of million annually. We can afford to do this.
Sign our petition now calling on the City of Sydney to rollout free entry to all Council pools in time for next summer.
